This policy covers the EcoFormPro app for iPhone, iPad and Mac (“the app”) and the website at ecoformpro.com, including the beta waitlist (“the website”). “We” and “us” means the EcoFormPro developer. Questions: support@ecoformpro.com.
The app
Your projects stay on your device
Projects, sampling points, plant, soil and hydrology data, photos, boundary flags, remarks and report settings are stored in a local database on your device (Apple’s SwiftData). They are not sent to us. There is no EcoFormPro account, no sign-in and no EcoFormPro server that holds your projects. Deleting the app deletes this data, so keep backups.
A small summary of your current work (for example the current sampling point and its status) is shared with the app’s own widgets and Siri and Shortcuts actions through a container on the same device. It does not leave the device.
No analytics, ads or tracking
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple in your device settings, Apple may share crash reports with developers as described in Apple’s own privacy policy.
Permissions and what they are used for
The app asks for each permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can turn any of them off in Settings.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Location (while using the app) | Recording sampling point coordinates, photo locations and wetland boundary flags. |
| Camera | Photographing sampling points, vegetation and soil profiles for the photo log. |
| Microphone and Speech Recognition | Voice entry, so you can speak species, cover and indicators. Recognition runs on the device when your device supports it; otherwise Apple’s speech service processes the audio under Apple’s privacy policy. The spoken note is turned into entries you review before anything is saved. |
| Photos (picker) | Adding photos you choose from your library. The app sees only the photos you pick. |
| Local Network | Only if you enter a tile server on your own network in Settings, to load map tiles from it. |
On devices with Apple Intelligence, voice notes may also be interpreted by Apple’s on-device language model. That model runs on the device.
Network requests the app makes
The app works offline. When you are online, it contacts these services for specific features. Each sees your IP address and the request itself; none receives your project data.
- Map tiles: USGS The National Map (imagery and topographic base maps) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) overlay. Requests contain the map tile being viewed or downloaded, which reveals the approximate area you are looking at. If the app is set to use EcoFormPro’s tile cache, these requests go to that cache instead; it runs on Cloudflare, which sees IP addresses and the tiles requested, and fetches tiles it does not have yet from USGS or USFWS.
- Site lookups: when you ask the app to fill in a site’s soil map unit or NWI classification, it sends that point’s coordinates to the USDA NRCS Soil Data Access service or the USFWS NWI map service.
- Place names: when you set a project’s location from your current position, the app asks Apple’s MapKit service for the nearby place name.
Sharing, exports and backups
Data sheets, reports, GIS files (GeoJSON, KML, GPX, CSV) and project backups are created on your device. They go only where you send them, for example to Files, iCloud Drive, Mail or AirDrop. Once shared, they are handled by those services and recipients.
Purchases and TestFlight
If EcoFormPro offers subscriptions, they will be sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details; Apple tells us about purchases in aggregate and confirms your entitlement to the app. Beta builds are distributed through Apple’s TestFlight, which shares your name or email address (as you provided it to TestFlight), the app version, device type and any feedback or crash reports you submit with us, under Apple’s TestFlight terms.
The website
ecoformpro.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Beta waitlist
If you join the waitlist, the form sends your email address, the region and devices you pick (both optional), your IP address, the page you signed up from and the time to Beehiiv, the newsletter service we use, which stores them under Beehiiv’s privacy policy. The form is submitted through our website on Cloudflare, which passes it on and does not keep a copy. We record the IP address and time as proof of your sign-up. If you join by email instead, your message is kept in our mailbox.
We use the list to invite you to the beta, tell you when EcoFormPro launches and send occasional product updates. We do not sell or rent it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Access, export or delete app data at any time inside the app, or by deleting the app.
- Change app permissions in your device’s Settings.
- Unsubscribe from emails with the link in any message, or ask us to delete your waitlist entry.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights (such as access, correction or deletion). Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
EcoFormPro is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will tell waitlist members and app users before they take effect.
